“Il Re Di Chi Ama Troppo” by Fiorella Mannoia (featuring Tiziano)

A song that’s well known by the fans, as they performed it together on tour and it ended up on Tiziano’s concert DVD.

From an interview with Tiziano:

Q: On Fiorella Mannoia’s new album, Il Movimento Del Dare, there’s also a song written by you. Was it a gift?

A: “Il Re Di Chi Ama Troppo” was on my album, and I wanted to give it to her. When you’re collaborating with an artist of such a caliber then you can’t give them secondary material. If I did that, I’d feel guilty. I treated Giusy Ferreri’s album the same way.

Q: Was it the first time that you met Fiorella?

A: To tell you the truth, no. After one of her concerts in Latina, we went to a bar with my friends and hers, and we had fun late into the night. She is beautiful, funny, sweet and a great person to talk to. People like that have the gift of “normalcy”.

From an interview with Fiorella:

Q: Another important duet is the one with Tiziano Ferro, “Il Re Di Chi Ama Troppo”.

A: We had promised that we’d do something together. One evening he’d come to Latina to see me in concert, then we went out to dinner and between a glass of wine and a laugh, the idea of this song was born. It was a challenge for me to sing a song written by him, approaching a style so different, both in generation and language. I really wanted to do it, and the moment in the song where his voice enters, it’s a trademark, there’s his whole personality. I think that I’ll choose it as the second single.

English translation of “Il Re Di Chi Ama Troppo”:

“The King Of Those Who Love Too Much”

I’m the king of those who love too much
I’m the king of those who forgive, whether it’s an animal or thing
Of those who are wrong and place the blame

I’m the king of those who love for the sake of love
And of those who don’t give up
I’m the king of patience
On my head I wear a crown
And if I’d ever have to leave, then…

When you’ll talk about me
The one who always counts the hours
Because my job is to wait
Then you’ll remember me
Because love, love is gone
And even I hadn’t realized it
The king of those who love too much

I’m the king of nothing but affection
I’m the king of what I’ve said
Condemned by the flaw of someone who always thinks negatively
Only because he truly loves

When you’ll talk about me
The one who always counts the hours
Because my job is to wait
Then you’ll remember me
Because love, love is gone
And even I hadn’t realized it
The king of those who love too much

I’m the king of too many mistakes, of thoughts left behind
I’m the king of distance, I’m the king of you and me
I’m the king of those who say what they feel
I’m the king of the useless memory of you
I’m the king of those who belong to each other, forever

When you’ll talk about me
The one who always counts the hours
Because my job is to wait
Then you’ll remember me
Because love, love is gone
And even I hadn’t realized it
The king of those who love too much
I’m the king of those who love too much

You’ll remember me
Because love, love is gone
And even I hadn’t realized it
The king of those who love too much
